Team Vitality acquires Bigetron Esports; expands Asian presence
French esports organisation Team Vitality has announced the acquisition of Indonesian esports brand Bigetron Esports, which changed its name to Bigetron by Vitality. The two brands did not disclose the financial aspects of the deal, but Team Vitality did note that it aims to keep all the Bigetron players and staff.
The move makes Team Vitality a very potent player on the global esports scene and establishes a base of operations in Jakarta, Indonesia, where an office with more than 50 employees is based.

Bigetron Esports is a well-known Southeast Asian esports brand with numerous titles across a range of games. The organisation is most known for its success in mobile esports, more specifically PUBG Mobile, where it’s one of the strongest in its home region. In addition to PUBG Mobile, Bigetron fields rosters in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, which competes in the MPL Indonesia, a Free Fire and Honor of Kings teams with strong regional results, and a women’s MLBB roster. In addition to the esports athletes and staff, Bigetron has a strong roster of influencers and ambassadors in the region, which will be very valuable to Team Vitality’s ambitions.
Bigetron Esports CEO Edwin Chia will join Team Vitality in an executive role and, according to a release by Vitality, work alongside Team Vitality’s CEO and Co-Founder Nicolas Maurer and Corporate Director of Global Operations Danny Engels to scale and grow Vitality’s mobile gaming division.
CEO of Bigetron Esports, Edwin Chia, said:
The merger was driven by our shared vision with Team Vitality to inspire and empower gamers to achieve greatness through innovation, collaboration, and relentless dedication to excellence. We believe, alongside Team Vitality, we can continue achieving greatness and showcasing the stellar Indonesian esports talent on an expansive international stage.
Team Vitality noted that the main reason for entering the Southeast Asian market is the ever-growing popularity of mobile gaming and esports. The mobile esports industry is growing fast, especially in Asia, and titles such as PUBG Mobile, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Free Fire are among some of the most-watched in the world. For example, the MLBB M-series of events has millions of peak viewers every year, and its latest edition, the M6 World Championship, saw a peak of more than 4 million viewers globally, making it the second-most watched esports event of 2024. The MPL Indonesia, the league where Bigetron is one of the partner teams, is one of the most-watched in the world, with millions of viewers.
In addition, fielding more rosters under the same name enables Team Vitality higher chances in the Esports World Cup, due to its club-based format. Organisations with more teams and rosters that compete in the EWC have a better chance of winning it because each team not only collects points in its own game, but also adds points to the organisation as a whole. In the 2024 edition of the EWC, Team Vitality had nine rosters and finished fourth, a great result compared to the winners, Team Falcons, who were represented in more than 15 games.
Team Vitality can now scale its presence in the SEA market through a wide network of athletes, influencers, and talent and has a very strong chance of being one of the more successful Western brands in the space, in addition to being a potent force in the upcoming Esports World Cup 2025.
