Check your connection
First, it’s important to rule out all the basic hardware problems. Ensure that your microphone is correctly connected to your PC through a USB, a headset jack, or a wireless dongle. If you’re running a headset with a removable mic, ensure that it’s fully plugged in.
Attempt to test your mic in another application, like Discord or Windows Voice Recorder. If it works there but not in VALORANT, then you are probably experiencing a software or settings glitch within the game or computer.
Check your input settings
One of the top reasons why your mic is not detected in VALORANT is because of wrong input settings in Windows. To see if this is the case, go to your system’s Sound Settings and ensure the proper input device is selected as your default microphone. From the Windows taskbar, right-click the sound icon, click “Sound settings,” and scroll down to “Input” to ensure the correct device is enabled.
If you have multiple microphones or drivers installed on Windows, Windows might automatically default to the wrong one, confusing games such as VALORANT.
Take a look at the in-game settings
Once your system is properly configured, open up VALORANT and go to the settings menu. Switch to the “Audio” tab and click on “Voice Chat.” Ensure that “Party Voice Chat” and “Team Voice Chat” are both enabled.
