Phase two of the Arena of Valor International Championship (AIC) has concluded with the top eight teams advancing to the Knockout Stage. The second phase was played on June 18 and 19 with 12 teams battling across four groups for a spot in the final stage. After an intense two days of action, the bottom ranked teams in each group have been eliminated.

The AIC 2022 features a total prize pool of $2 million. Teams are competing from Ho Chi Minh City in the AIC 2022 while others are playing remotely.

In the second phase, the teams were divided into four groups of three teams each. They competed in a single round-robin format. Nova Esports, Saigon Phantom, Dewa United, and MAD Team were the teams that bowed out of the competition. The remaining teams heading into Playoffs are:

Nova were the sole Western representatives, having qualified for the AIC through the European qualifier. The result would be a disappointment to the team which returned to Arena of Valor earlier this year after a year gap.The elimination of Dewa United also means the end of Indonesia’s journey in the AIC 2022. In the same group with Bikertopia and A Dope Team, Dewa couldn’t beat either of them and finished in the bottom of the group.

The 2020 AIC champions MAD Team have also been knocked out of the competition after a score of 0-1-1 (W/L/D). The team’s chance for redemption after placing seventh to eighth last year have been nullified.

AIC 2022 Knockout Stage Brackets

After the conclusion of phase two, the draw show for the final stage was held on the livestream. The first placed teams from each group were put in one pool, while the second placed teams were put into another pool. The teams will compete in a double-elimination bracket. Every match will be a best-of-five, except for the grand finals which will be a best-of-seven. The matches will be played with Global Ban-Pick Rules.

With the defending champions, Buriram United Esports failing to qualify for the AIC 2022, a new champion is set to be crowned. V Gaming, which placed second last year are one of the AoV betting favorites to take home the trophy.

Talon Esports, who are on the other side of the bracket are also looking really strong ahead of the knockout stage. They have drawn against A Dope Team in their first match, who are one of the underdogs in the AIC 2022.
