CS:GO ICE Challenge 2020 Hosted by GG.Bet Gets $250,000 Prize Pool

GG.Bet will once again host CS:GO tournament ICE Challenge, this years event in February will see a price pool five times higher than 2019’s competition.

The 2020 Counter-Strike Global Offensive tournament illustrates the fast pace of growth in esports with a huge increase in prize money from $50,000 in 2019, to $250,000 for 2020.

The event, held at gaming exhibition ICE London at the ExCel convention centre, is hosted by sports and esports betting platform GG.Bet and will take place between February 1st and 6th.

Eight teams will compete in 2020’s ICE Challenge:

In 2019 just four teams competed. There will be a best of three GSL Group Stage fixture where a team will be eliminated from each group. The remaining six teams will go to playoffs and the top teams will compete in a best of five CS:GO game format.

Reports indicate the exhibition, focused on the future of the betting industry, will see esports as a hot topic. GG.Bet is esports targeted, launching in 2016, but also offers sports betting and the company has other partnerships in the esports space to drive its brand forward.

The tournament is pitched to be a look at the eight CS:GO teams and what 2020 might bring for them. The favourites teams to win, according to some, are Natus Vincere and mousesports and for OG it’s their second tournament ever.

Mousesports is led by  Finn “karrigan” Andersen and although they lost at EPICENTER 2019 are still a strong favourite for the CS: GO challenge. For Natus Vincere the return of  Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovács to its lineup is theoried to have affected the play of its strongest player Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev and the team is thought to need to balance its dyamics.  For all of the teams the GG.Bet ICE Challenge is an opportunity to prove their worth and set the bar going into to 2020.

Esports tournaments are of course the perfect opportunity for esports betting platforms, like GG.Bet, to gain a foothold and brand recognition in the sector. There is massive potential for synergy and collaboration between the esports and gambling industries.
