DreamHack Atlanta 2019 Preview – What to watch out for

One of the most popular esports tournaments in the world is making its stop in Atlanta in just a few days – this weekend, the DreamHack Atlanta is going down in the Georgia World Congress Center in Georgia.

Praising itself to be the ultimate gaming and lifestyle festival. The three-day event features multiple different tournaments and competitions. Among the most popular is definitely the CS:GO tournament – it has always been extremely popular with DreamHack fans.

Not to be ignored are competitions in games like Rocket League, Madden 20, in MCC: Halo 3 and various fighting games, as well as the Smite World Championship, the Paladins World Championship and the AT&T ESL Mobile Open.

In other words – esports fans are well-looked after this weekend. On a smaller scale, there is also the Chipotle Challenger Series going down – this Fortnite competition will award its winner with a year-long supply of free burritos, and every contestant will get a free burrito gift card as well – definitely a popular event for gamers at the competition.

A LAN Festival

Traditionally, the DreamHack has always been a huge LAN event, with different competitions from around the world even breaking some world records for attendance and number of participants. This time around, the many BYOC competitions are featuring something new – a theme! Four different themes, to be exact.

Lovecraftian, Pirate, Postapocalyptic and Space are the four themes and players are encouraged to dress up themselves and their computer according to their placement! Of course, this is not mandatory and there is plenty of other seating available for players who aren’t interested in the themes.

Players can play whatever game they want at their stations, or participate in the several BYOC competitions that are happening. There are still some tickets available, but be aware that BYOC tickets are more expensive than regular ones, and that if you wait until the start of the event, you might not get a seat at all!

If you’d rather catch all of this action online, you can do that of course – just check on Twitch for relevant event streams. There are plenty of players that will be streaming live from the event, as well as, of course, tournament coverage that will also be transmitted on the official games’ channels.
