NiP, Mousesports and FURIA squeezing in last practice before DH Masters Malmö (Predictions included)

V4 Future Sports Festival

The V4 Future Sports Festival in Budapest, Hungary is where NiP, Mousesports, Virtus.Pro and MIBR are seeking to bounce back in the season after an underwhelming showing at StarLadder Major Berlin and Blast Pro Series Moscow. A hefty prize fund of €300,000 EUR attracted the monster squads in a battle against the four other mid-tier teams. The tournament will follow two double-elimination format (GSL) Groups of 4 teams each with the winners advancing directly to Semifinals while the 2nd and 3rd place teams will advance to quarters.

The groups are divided as follows:

Group A

mousesports

Virtus.pro

Tricked Esport

E-RIVALS

Group B

MIBR

Ninjas in Pyjamas

GAMERZONE

Adwokacik

Both groups are relatively equal in strength with a slight edge going over to Group A, although if we consider Virtus.Pro’s horrendous form in the past few months they might be dead even. Group A should go to Mouseports as the 1st seed with Tricked and Virtus.Pro getting 2nd and 3rd.

For Group B we have to see how the recent acquisition of Vito “kNgV-” Giuseppe is impacting the squad. On his first showing at Blast Moscow the team managed to tie both NiP and ENCE and only dropped a closely contested match versus AVANGAR. In his second showing with the squad KNgV might be the factor that gives MIBR first seed in Group B. The other scenario is NiP going 1st with MIBR in 2nd. The third seed should likely go to Adwokacik unless the home crowd really buffs up GAMERZONE’s play.

With the predicted group outcomes in mind, we can go further and predict the likely outright winner.

Games Clash Masters 2019

While one part of the world elite fights in Budapest, the other part headed out to Gdynia, Poland and the Games Clash Masters 2019 starting in two days’ time. Here FURIA seeks to dominate the home squads and claim the biggest slice of the $100,000 prize pie. Up until 3 days ago the event was supposed to be a showcase of AVANGAR’s dominance, but the team announced they had burned out and forfeited their spot. Syman was in turn invited as a replacement for the vacant slot.

This results in FURIA being the odds favorite of taking home the trophy in Poland against the likes of BIG, DreamEaters and Aristocracy. Unlike Mousesport’s definite favoritism at V4 in Budapest, FURIA is on shakier legs in their dominance. Just a few weeks ago we covered how underwhelming the Brazilians have been in Berlin and the difficulty they have in executing their strats. This whole tournament might just as well be flipped sideways by any of the eight attending teams as everyone has a pretty decent chance of winning out in the end.

The two double elimination groups are divided as follows:

Group A

Syman

DreamEaters

Aristocracy

Sprout

Group B

FURIA

AGO

Illuminar

BIG

As both groups are hard to predict and will entirely depend on how teams perform at the event the smartest move is to predict the outright favorites and look for value offers.
