Faker Assists Watch: 82 assists to all-time LCK leader

Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok , one of the greatest players in League of Legends history is now 82 assists from beating the all-time record assist record. The mid laner, who is 26 years old, got to second on the assists ladder earlier in the year after getting past Go “Score” Dong-bin, and it’s only a matter of time before we see him at the top.

His longevity has certainly played a part in breaking these records but so has his quality and versatility. During his many years for T1, he has associated with the champion, Yasuo. At this moment in time, he has got 4,055 assists to his name. The man whose record he looks set to beat is Korean support Kang “GorillA” Beom-hyun, known for being one of the greatest players to never win an international tournament.

Holding all the records

There aren’t many active players who look like they’re going to break these records other than Faker. Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu and Han “Peanut” Wang-ho are probably the most likely since they also make the top 10 in the assists leader chart.

This hasn’t been Faker’s best season in the LCK, he’s currently just outside the top 10 of the assists ladder but this shouldn’t prevent him from breaking the record. When he got to second earlier in the year, he had 3,550 assists. That just goes to show how little he has to do be the all-time leader.

Keria and Oner have taken up most of the assisting responsibilities this season, with Faker only averaging 5.53 assists for the year. This is only low relative to how much more effective Faker can be in this department. He has also averaged 3.09 kills per game, 1.82 deaths per game and has a KDA of 4.73 for the year. He’s been consistent all round as per the requirements from the team. Taking up other tasks hasn’t been an issue as he’s one of the senior members of the side and has a say in the strategy T1 take up.

T1 are currently first on the league table, with an in-form Gen. G on their tail. As long as they’ve got the likes of Faker in their side, they’ll be a force in the Playoffs and always stand a chance of winning the big prizes.

Coming into the final week of regular play, we expect the assist record to hold until Playoffs and potentially fall in the first or second series in Playoffs. However, if both T1 series in Week 9 go the distance, and we have heavy assist games in each of them, we might see the record broken in regular season.
