Ford launches Frodzilla, their own Motor Racing Team of Esports
In a new leap into the virtual world, on August 19, 2019, Ford Motors announced its incursion into the world of esports by putting its own team behind the digital wheel with the name of Fordzilla.
As esports continues to advance and categories such as virtual races begin to gain more ground with games such as Microsoft’s Forza Motorsport series, high-caliber companies have been seen in the willingness to be part of this world.
On this decision, Ford Europe’s vice president of marketing, sales, and service, Roleant de Waard explained that “We at Ford have a racing pedigree that others can only envy. Now is the time to take that know-how and apply it to the world of esports – capturing the imagination of a new generation of virtual racing drivers, inspiring them to take a ride in one of our Ford Performance vehicles,”.
For its part the company is driven by the steady growth of the esports market that according to official company figures could reach an audience of 453.8 million by the end of this year, an opportunity they are not willing to miss.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the table, the Senior Manager of Partnership Development from Microsoft’s Turn 10 studios, the studio responsible for the Forza Motorsport series, shows his enthusiasm for the growth of the game in the market and the addition of a company like Ford to its alliances.
In this way, the Fordzilla team will compete in different racing game scenarios starting mainly with Forza Motorsport 7, which is the racing game that has had the best performance in the market in recent years at a sports level.
Besides it’s good to remember that it was in Forza Horizon 4 that for the first time was presented the Ranger Raptor in 2017 in a digital format.
Now it is only a matter of time to know the players who will be part of the Fordzilla team, will you tag along?
