Ninja secures Red Bull deal and announces new tournament

Just when we thought one of the biggest success stories in the world of video game streaming couldn’t get any bigger, he manages to secure a huge deal with Red Bull. We’re talking about Ninja of course, and this deal is a phenomenal milestone in the future of online video game personalities and esports.

Here’s what we know about the Ninja and Red Bull deal and how a sponsorship like this could mean great things for the future of video games.

Red Bull Ninja deal is big news for gaming

On June 17, Ninja went live on Twitch like he usually does, but this time things were a little different. Ninja started the stream by announcing his partnership with Red Bull before showing off a short promo video.

Ninja explained that Red Bull had teamed up with him to create a Fortnite event. Instead of just sticking a promo banner in Ninja’s stream, Red Bull are clearly looking to go somewhere a little more adventurous.

And that’s how the Red Bull Rise Till Dawn event was created.

Red Bull Rise Till Dawn tournament – Everything there is to know

Red Bull Rise Till Dawn is a Fortnite tournament that will be happening on July 21 and July 22 on the 99th Floor of The Willis Tower in Chicago.

The tournament will start when the sun sets and it will continue until the sun rises. There will be a total of 100 slots available for players to enter, but players must be 18 years or older. More importantly, the event will be a duo tournament, which means there will technically a total of 50 teams.

Sign ups are open to all, but as you can imagine, more than 100 people have already signed up. We’re not sure how participants will be picked, but if you and a duo partner are able to make the event, you may as well give it a shot.

I think that Red Bull explained it best:

“When the sun sets in the West on July 21, teams of two will hop on the battle bus, grabbing their favorite pickaxe and glide for Red Bull Rise Till Dawn, a dusk to dawn Fortnite Battle Royale duo competition taking place on the 99th floor of Chicago’s famed Willis Tower. Featuring a unique scoring system, the tournament will start as soon as the sun sets at 8:21 PM and continue throughout the night as teams battle to accumulate the most points possible before the sun rises over Lake Michigan at 5:35 AM.”

There doesn’t seem to be any prizes involved, but players will have the chance to play against Ninja. The entire event will be live streamed.

Summary

These kinds of tournaments are very big for the gaming industry and esports in general. Seeing large worldwide brands get involved with creating fun events like this will showcase the huge potential for brand awareness there is in esports and video game events.
