LoL Patch 9.8 brought significant champion changes

Patch 9.8 has some major changes. This article has condensed the most important champion changes you will need to keep a look out for. A large amount of champions has been buffed, including Amumu and Kayn, two of which are particularly important.

Amumu – Passive true damage increased from 10% to 13%. Bandage toss (Q) cooldown increased at earlier levels, new effect also added, ensuring Amumu appears next to the target despite movement prior to his arrival (for example QSS into flash).

Cassiopeia – Mana cost of E reduced at later levels, allowing Cass to better skirmish in the mid to later game phase.

Fiora – W stun duration increased from 1.5 to 2 seconds, with base damage at all levels also increased by 20. E mana cost moved to a flat 40 at all levels. Overall, Fiora’s buff make her outplay potential much stronger, while heavily encouraging split pushing.

Gnar – Huge reduction of Gnar’s ultimate cool down time from 120/100/80 to 90/60/30. Late game Gnar will almost always have ultimate up whenever he transforms to mega form.

Jhin – E trap duration increased to 3 minutes, trap recharge rate much faster at later levels, from 28/27/26/25/24 to 28/25/22/19/16. R damage multiplier on missing health slightly increased. Trap change is significant, a trap playstyle (like AP Jhin) may be viable with recent changes.

Kayn – Shadow step (E) cooldown moved to a flat 8 seconds at all levels. Makes Kayn much more mobile and will dramatically increase gank frequency. Likely to be toned down next patch.

Master Yi – New Highlander (R) passive, while ultimate is active Master Yi is immune to unit collision.

Nautilus – Passive Root duration increased at earlier levels from 0.5/0.75/1/1.25/1.5 to 0.75/1/1.25/1.5 at levels 1/6/11/16. Q damage largely increased, base damage up at all levels, while AP scaling ratio increased from 0.75 to 0.9.

Ornn – Three upgrade items buffed.

  • Forgefire cape, 750 Health + 100 Armor
  • Frozen fist, 125 Armor
  • Infernal mask, 750 Health + 100 Magic resistance

Renekton – Minor stat buffed. However, Renekton has received a major healing increased on Cull the Meek (Q).

Singed – W slow increased from 40% to 60%. E mana cost reduced at all levels from 80/95/110/125/140 to 60/70/80/90/100. Buff to compensate Singed’s weakness when Dark seal had been nerfed.

Trundle – Q bonus damage increased at later levels, ultimate cooldown also reduced at all levels. Makes Trundle a much stronger dueller and split pusher in the late game.
