NiP and OpTic in do or die decider matches – VCT Masters Reykjavík

The fourth day of VALORANT Champions Tour 2022 Masters Reykjavík is upon us.

Despite being only the start of the event, many surprises and upsets already took place. Eight games have been played in three days and two teams, DRX and Team Liquid, have qualified for the playoffs so far. The remaining two teams will become clear after today’s decider matchups.

Ninjas in Pyjamas vs ZETA DIVISION, and XERXIA Esports against OpTic Gaming will fight for a seat in the knockout stage. Let’s get into the details of the upcoming series.

NIP Valorant VCT

Ninjas in Pyjamas vs ZETA DIVISION

Before the occasion started, both teams were considered the weakest squads in Group A, and at the bottom of our Masters Reykjavik Power Rankings. Both regions had shown weaknesses in previous international events which had people thinking they were the weaker ones. However, NiP showed everyone how wrong they were against Fnatic.

The Brazilian representative played its first match on the stage against the European giant. And crushed it. Winning the series with a 2-0, NiP dominated both games with their furious playstyle and they didn’t give Fnatic an opportunity to make a comeback. Fnatic, who competed without BraveAF and Derke, couldn’t find a way out and accepted their fate.

The momentum they gained from the last game wasn’t enough for NiP to take down DRX in the winners’ match. And this result dropped them to the decider game against ZETA.

On the other hand, ZETA DIVISION had the worst start to the tournament. Against DRX in their first game, the Japanese team fell short in every way against its strong opponent and lost the series with a 2-0. After that, they had to face Fnatic in the elimination match.

Fnatic were clearly the favorite coming into this matchup, but ZETA turned into a completely different team. They won every gun duel, executed their plans correctly and in the end upset Fnatic, sending them home. Following the results, Ninjas in Pyjamas and ZETA DIVISION will battle each other to be the last team that qualify for the playoffs from Group A.

XERXIA Esports – OpTic Gaming

OpTic Gaming are coming into the series to take their revenge. In the opening series of Group B, XERXIA managed to beat OpTic and began the event with an unexpected victory. This loss made North American fans worried since their representative put in a poor performance at the start.

However, OpTic quickly recovered after the disappointing result and survived versus KRÜ Esports in the elimination match thanks to their convincing executions. On the other side, XERXIA who initiated with an important triumph weren’t able to surpass Team Liquid, despite showing off enormous performance throughout the series.

Now, both teams will face each other once more to make it through the playoffs from Group B. XERXIA have been performing better compared to their opponent, but OpTic’s individuals always have the potential to pop off. The mood of the players that day will determine the outcome of this series. The decider series of VCT 2022 Masters Reykjavík will take place on April 13.

Keep in mind, this is only the opening group stage. Cant even imagine the banger tech pauses we are going to see come playoffs.
