Pokémon GO Fest 2022: Legendary Pokémon and how to defeat them
On Saturday, August 27, the finale of Pokémon GO Fest 2022 will kick off at 10 am local time. From then until 6 pm, featured Pokémon will spawn and ticket owners will see vastly increased shiny odds. The spawns will rotate every two hours. When the spawns rotate, a new Legendary Pokémon will arrive in raids for everyone to participate in.
These Legendary Pokémon will also be available for ticket owners through Special Research tasks, but everyone else can do the raids to catch these exclusive Pokémon. The four that will be present are Nihilego, Buzzwole, Pheromosa and Xurkitree.
Players will have two hours to get enough friends and try to defeat these Legendaries, which means having good counters is vital. Here’s when each one will be available and how to effectively dominate it.
Pokémon GO Fest Legendary Pokémon Schedule
From 10 am local time to 12 pm, Pheromosa will be available in raids. Beginning at 12 pm and lasting until 2 pm, Buzzwole will replace it. The third time frame sees Xurkitree arrive. Lastly, Nihilego will be in raids from 4 pm to 6 pm.
How to defeat each Legendary Pokémon in GO Fest Finale
1. Pheromosa
Pheromosa is a Bug/Fighting dual type Pokémon, which makes it weak to Fire, Psychic, Flying and Fairy type moves. Pokémon like Charizard (Fire/Flying dual type), Alakazam, Flygon, Sylveon, Flareon, Skarmory, Noivern and Galarian Articuno (Flying/Psychic) are excellent choices.
3. Xurkitree
Xurkitree is an Electric-type Pokemon. As such, it is weak to Ground, Grass, Electric and Dragon. That means that Garchomp, Zekrom, Serperior, Torterra, Hisuian Electrode, Zarude, Hippowdon, Stunfisk, Jolteon and Venusaur are excellent choices.
2. Buzzwole
Another Bug/Fighting type, Buzzwole is also weak to Fire, Psychic, Flying and Fairy. The same Pokémon, as well as Moltres, Togetic, Lugia and Ho-Oh, can be used to great effect.
4. Nihilego
Lastly, Nihilego, which showed up in June for the second day of GO Fest, is the final Legendary Pokémon of the day. It is a Rock/Poison dual type, making it weak to Steel, Water, Psychic and Ground. Pokémon such as Mewtwo, Azelf, Slowbro (especially Mega Slowbro), Starmie, Metagross, Bronzong, Melmetal, Steelix, Alolan Dugtrio and Empoleon will work wonders.
As with all Legendary Raids, it is imperative to have enough players involved. Some can be defeated with just four trainers, though it will take the entire time allotted and will cause quite a few Pokémon to faint. Five is a solid minimum to defeat these Pokémon without stressing about it.
