Sunset is one of the newest maps in VALORANT, and while its golden lighting and LA-inspired look seem peaceful, it’s anything but. You will find plenty of sharp angles, two main ways into mid, and a couple of hidden areas on this map that can change the round’s outcome. Sunset VALORANT Map Overview
The Sunset VALORANT map has two bomb sites and a significant mid area that links both sites. This map lacks the teleporters or tricky mechanics found on Bind, so you’ll find only straightforward gunfights and tough corners. Success on Sunset depends on controlling mid and staying focused after the plant.

Tips & Tricks for Sunset Map
- Mid Is Everything:
If mid is left unchecked by your team, things will not go well. Control or pressure in mid exposes both sites and allows you to block defenders’ rotations. Regardless of whether you are playing with smokes, flashes, or duelists, you should focus on mid at the start of the round. Even the best VALORANT players tend to avoid dry peeking. - Use Smokes to Cut Rotations:
Smoking out the connector routes between Mid and A Elbow or B Market is very effective. Using smokes in Link can stop defenders from seeing you, slow down their rotations, or help you surprise attack from unexpected spots. - Watch for Fast Flanks:
Because the map is not large, defenders can move around fast. If you rush A, be ready for someone to show up in your spawn. It is important to have a team member monitor the back or to set up a trap to keep it safe. - Use Utility to Clear Corners:
There are many 90-degree angles and deep cubbies in Sunset, especially on both B Site and A Alley. Don’t dry peek. Flashes, recon, and even a dog can be used to clear those corners. - Post-Plants Are About Positioning:
As soon as the spike is down, make sure to leave the site and defend from good post-plant spots. If you are on Viper or Brimstone, A Site offers good lineups. There are multiple good crossfire spots at B Site behind Pillar and CT side.
Best Agents for Sunset Map
Certain agents tend to outperform on Sunset. The following agents tend to shine on this map:
- Killjoy – She’s great for keeping sites under control and backing up your flanks. The turret works especially well for her on B site.
- Omen / Brimstone – Agents with powerful smokes that easily stop Mid and site entry points.
- Skye – Her flashes make it easy to clear sites and look for enemies hiding in those tricky cubbies.
- Raze – Her explosives make it much simpler to watch over choke points like Mid tiles, A lobby or A elbow.
- Cypher – His traps are useful for patrolling mid or for keeping an eye on your back as you approach the site.
Attacking vs. Defending: How To Play
Attacking
- Make sure your team controls Mid early.
- Make the enemy think you’re attacking one site while your team pushes utility into Mid to split.
- Fast clears of Market or Elbow can be achieved by using flashes in coordinated double-entry setups.
Defending
- Make sure you don’t lose Mid without a fight. Put up a fight for it, or at least slow them down with your utilities.
- Start off strong to get a good hold on the map.
- If you see that a site is lost, quickly alert your team so rotations happen ASAP.
