Best Races for Hunter in World of Warcraft – Becoming the Ultimate Hunter
Hunters have always been one of the most popular classes in World of Warcraft. They are strong, easy to level, and employ a wide array of traps and shots. Aside from Warlocks, they are the only class that has a pet that can act as a personal tank, or help you take down foes in PvP battles.
Hunters can tame almost any animal in the wild, and they can be every single WoW race except Dracthyr. The choice of race can make a pretty big impact for a hunter, depending on the specialization you’re running. In this piece we’ll discuss all the WoW best races for Hunters, and see which ones you should be prioritizing when creating a new character in WoW.
Beast Mastery Hunters
If you’re maining a Beast Mastery Hunter, your main priority will be your WoW Hunter pet. Maximizing pet damage will always yield the most overall dps, so it’s important to always look for racial traits that make your pet stand out.
For Horde WoW players, Mag’har Orcs are an excellent choice for several reasons. Not only do they look incredible, but Mag’har Orcs also come with some pretty useful racial perks.
Sympathetic Vigor and Open Skies are great choices for a BM Hunter. Sympathetic Vigor boosts your pet’s health, making it more tanky for leveling and open world encounters. Open Skies grants faster mount speed while outdoors, which is great as you’ll always be chasing something outside in the world.
Mechagnomes are an excellent choice for Alliance BM Hunters who enjoy adventuring. The Mastercraft perk will grant you several quality of life choices, by making you into a moving anvil, cooking fire, and a forge. In addition, this perk makes your limbs act as profession tools! That’s a lot of utility in one perk.
Skeleton Pinkie perk will allow you to unlock doors and lockboxes without a key, something only Rogues can do. If you’re soloing old dungeons while farming WoW transmog, you realize just how many free chests you tend to miss. This perk makes it so that you can unlock anything you come across in your future travels.
Marksmanship Hunters
Marksmanship Hunters like to keep their distance and strike their foes with devastating ranged attacks. As an MM Hunter, you’ll be looking for anything that can prevent your enemies from catching up to you.
Goblins are a surprisingly good race for Horde MM Hunters. They get an extra ranged attack in the form of Rocket Barrage, making your burst that much deadlier. But more importantly, they get Rocket Jump, which is yet another escape tool to help them gain distance. You also get increased Alchemy skill, more haste and a your own personal bank with the Pack Hobgoblin trait. Goblins are just amazing!
Alliance MM Hunters will want to try Void Elves for the Spatial Rift racial ability. This ability allows you to teleport to a different location within 30 yards. The ability moves slowly, but can be used to quickly reposition and continue doing damage uninterrupted.
Alternatively, you might want to consider Humans for their Will to Survive racial ability. It can act as your PvP trinket or can even be used in PvE when you’re dealing with a long stun mechanic. An incredibly strong choice for Alliance MM Hunter WoW PvP players.
Survival Hunter
Survival Hunter is somewhat of a hybrid between a ranged and melee class. They still use a pet and have access to some powerful shots, but they primarily like to get up close to their targets.
Worgens are great for Alliance Survival Hunters as they allow them to quickly close the gap to their target with Darkflight. Additionally, they get increased crit chance and the ability to skin faster, all of which can be incredibly useful.
For Horde, you might want to consider a Highmountain Tauren for the increased versatility and their Bull Rush ability, which acts as a gap closer and cc, all in one. If Highmountain Tauren is not the race for you, check out Orcs instead.
Orcs will provide Survival Hunters with a great offensive cooldown in the form of Blood Fury, and will also increase your pet’s dps with Command. Since you’ll always be in the thick of battle, Hardiness will help reduce any stuns you may receive in combat.
