Street Fighter League World Championship – Format, Teams & Watch Live

The Street Fighter League in 2022 has reached its final stage!

Alongside the Capcom Cup IX, this tournament is going to be the culmination of an entire year’s worth of Leagues. While a little smaller than the main cup, the Street Fighter League World Championship is a fun event with a different approach to competitive fighting.

While most Street Fighter tournaments are one-v-one, the League takes a fresh approach. It’s a team-based game. Squads of players from esports orgs are fielded in the League and this final World Championship is the culmination of the year’s long event. This is how it works, how you can watch and more.

How Does the Street Fighter League World Championship Work?

This is the final event for an entire season of tournaments, so it isn’t going to be a huge tournament with qualifying stages. Instead, this is essentially the final bracket or round of matches! Everyone here has already earnt their spot at the final. The competing teams will be playing each other in three matches, with a potential tiebreaker afterwards.

Each match starts in best of three for the two games, giving 10 points to the winner. The third match switches to best of three with 20 points. A tie-breaker at the end moves to sudden death best of one, with only 5 points at stake to push a team into winning.

The whole event will be taking place from February 17-18. It’s only over two days, with a winner of the whole League claimed at the end.

Street Fighter League Prize Pool

There’s a $150,000 prize pool at stake for the Street Fighter League World Championship. With only three teams taking part, they’re going to be leaving with a decent payout. Although, it’s the top team that’ll take home the biggest win and share of the prize.
