Predictions for StarLadder ImbaTV Invitational Season 5
StarLadder ImbaTV Invitational Season 5 is a Dota Pro Circuit Minor and the 17th DPC LAN event of the 2017-2018 professional season. This competition features 8 teams, has a prize pool of 300,000 Dollars and is scheduled to take place in Kiev, Ukraine between April 12th and April 15th.
Teams and event format
StarLadder ImbaTV Invitational Season 5 brings together 8 teams from 6 regions:
- CIS: FlyToMoon, Natus Vincere, Vega Squadron.
- China: VGJ.Thunder.
- North America: OpTic Gaming.
- South America: SG e-sports.
- Europe: Team Kinguin.
- Southeast Asia: Fnatic.
The teams will be initially placed into two groups of four. Each of these groups will be played in a GSL format (double-elimination bracket). The top two teams from each group advance to the Playoffs, where the first placed team from Group A plays against the second placed from Group B and vice versa. With the exception of the Finals (Bo5), all of the matches are Bo3 series.
Because it belongs to the Dota Pro Circuit, StarLadder ImbaTV Invitational Season 5 offers 300 qualification points in addition to the $300.000 prize pool. Both the points and the money will be distributed among the 8 teams in the following way:
- 1st place: 150 points; $135,000
- 2nd place: 90 points; $60,000
- 3rd – 4th place: 30 points; $30,000
- 5th – 6th place: 0 points; $15,000
- 7th – 8th place: 0 points; $7,500
VGJ.Thunder vs. FlyToMoon
This is a total mismatch and will definitely end with a 2 – 0 victory in favor of VGJ.Thunder. FlyToMoon is a CIS team that has been around for just two months, while VGJ.Thunder is one of the top Chinese powerhouses.
Esportsbetting.com puts the odds for this match at 1.30 – 3.30 in favor of VGJ.Thunder, giving you very high returns for such a low risk bet.
OpTic Gaming vs. Kinguin
Given OpTic Gaming’s proven ability to go head to head with the best teams in the world, ppd’s lineup shouldn’t have much of a problem against an outsider like Kinguin.
Esportsbetting.com puts the odds for this match at 1.30 – 3.20 in favor of the North American side, whose likelihood of success is even higher than these odds suggest, simply because the match format is Bo3.
Vega Squadron vs. SG e-sports
This is the most balanced matchup on this list and the victory could easily go either way. Vega Squadron is regarded as the favorite, but let’s not forget that SG e-sports is one of the strongest team in South America. All things considered, I would bet on the South Americans in this match.
Esportsbetting.com puts the odds at 1.55 – 2.30 in favor of Vega Squadron.
Fnatic vs. Natus Vincere
Fnatic will probably want to get revenge for their last defeat against Na’Vi, which constituted one of the most fabulous comebacks in the history of Dota. Na’Vi won the 3rd game of that series in spite of the fact that it had a 30K gold deficit and was fighting against mega creeps.
Esportsbetting.com puts the odds for this match at 1.35 – 2.85 in favor of Fnatic, as they are clearly the better side in every way.
