T1 looking to make a statement in Week 2 – DPC SEA Division 1
Southeast Asia is arguably the most anticipated region in Dota Pro Circuit 2021-22 (DPC2021-22). After BOOM Esports’ display of strength at Gamers Galaxy, let it be known that SEA is a formidable region at the upcoming Stockholm Major.
It’s Week 2 into the DPC SEA Division 1, and T1 is looking to make a statement versus Nigma Galaxy and SMG.
T1 vs Nigma Galaxy SEA
T1 is a team that needs no introduction, well besides the addition of Kim “Gabbi” Villafuerte Santos. Gabbi became T1’s power-forward before the DPC SEA Regional Finals, which gives us a glimpse into his synergy with T1. Needless to say, the prodigy fits well into T1’s playstyle, compared to his predecessor, Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon. Gabbi just plays more independently and isn’t too prone to getting shut down.
Then, there’s Nigma SEA, which is the latest addition, formerly hailing from Division 2. The team did well to make it into the higher-tier competitive scene but wasn’t too big of a surprise. After all, Nigma SEA has seasoned players in their line-up, notably Muhammad “inYourdreaM” Rizky and Galvin “Meracle” Kang Jian Wen. These are veterans, whom many considered legendary relics that once played old-school Dota 2.
The Dota 2 odds favor T1 at x1.52 vs Nigma SEA at x2.46 returns, but don’t let the overwhelming odds against Nigma bum you out. Nigma SEA isn’t too shabby, and their drafts can occasionally be entertaining as they pull off rather unorthodox picks.
T1 vs Team SMG
Later next week, T1 faces a more challenging rival, Team SMG. After losing previous duels, SMG may have some tricks up its sleeves. Namely, they have Michael “ninjaboogie” Ross Jr. as their newest hard support player and captain.
While ninjaboogie may not be a threat as a hard support player, his advantage stems from his take on classic hero meta. During their match vs Execration, SMG revived the Io and Gyrocopter combo, which provided their hard carry with sustainability. When Execration attempted to play the late game, SMG was quick-witted to understand the match needs to conclude within 30 minutes.
Hence, the drafting prowess that ninjaboogie puts on the table might just be the leverage SMG needs to win against T1. Nonetheless, T1 still has the odds in their favor at x1.22 versus SMG at x4.07 odds.
BOOM vs Polaris
The fans can’t get enough of the SEA rising stars, BOOM Esports. From back-to-back victories in DPC SEA Division 1, DPC SEA Regional Finals, and the GAMERS GALAXY tournament. These are testaments to BOOM’s rise as a formidable candidate in Dota 2 Betting.
Despite the phenomenal results, BOOM changed their roster, notably picking up Souliya “JaCkky” Khoomphetsavong as their hard carry player. BOOM’s recent victories proved that JaCkky is certainly the right fit, and we can look forward to BOOM’s performance. Perhaps the greatest takeaway on BOOM is their in-game execution when they manage to win against Tundra Esports’ Broodmother.
Unfortunately for Polaris Esports, they are next to get swept by the strongest opponent in DPC SEA Division 1. Considering BOOM’s status, expect the odds to favor BOOM at x1.18 against Polaris at x4.59 returns.
Fnatic vs Execration
Execration’s foolishness in not banning high-demand support hero, Io, just goes to show that they don’t respect Io’s global presence. Anyhow, Fnatic is no stranger to banning Io in the recent Dota 2 Patch 7.31, so Execration doesn’t have to worry.
On a different note, Fnatic is frankly the weakest among the top four in DPC SEA Regional Finals. This is bad news, considering Fnatic rocks many seasoned players, but still lacks a winning condition. Perhaps Fnatic needs young blood, who can rise to challenge as Fnatic’s whizz-kid.
Anyways, in Fnatic’s match, expect each game to last 38 minutes on average as they don’t play the midgame drafts like many fast-paced teams. With Fnatic’s poor showing lately, it is unsurprising that Fnatic has x1.39 versus Execration at x2.89 odds. It’s relatively even odds if you factor in the fact that other notable teams easily put their opponents at even worse odds.
The DPC SEA Division 1 Tour 2 is set to be a clash between SEA’s finest teams, notably BOOM Esports, T1, SMG, and perhaps Fnatic. However, with new contenders, Nigma Galaxy SEA and Polaris Esports, we can never be too certain that the favorites won’t fall.
