Latest Tarkov Trailer Shows Key Updates But No Launch Date
During the recent PC Gaming Show, Battlestate Games took to the stage to share a new Escape from Tarkov trailer. Over a minute and a half, BSG showcased some of the upcoming elements in Escape from Tarkov, arguably the most popular extraction shooter in the world. Amongst other things, players saw the incoming movement mechanics, such as vaulting over small obstacles, and some of the new combat features, like mortar strikes.
In the trailer, BSG mixed up Arena content alongside Escape from Tarkov, further pushing the ‘one game’ message. It was recently revealed that Escape from Tarkov and Escape from Tarkov: Arena are now more linked than ever before. Players can share progress, unlocks, and even some stash items and currencies between each game. This is a fact despite Tarkov: Arena requiring a separate purchase – unless you’ve bought one of the game’s highest editions.
No Date in Sight
One of the aspects of Tarkov that players are most excited about is the eventual 1.0 release. Since the game dropped in 2016, Escape from Tarkov has been in a ‘closed beta’ state, with the team constantly making it known that it’s a work in progress and subject to some drastic changes at the press of a button. That has led to some glaring issues over the years, but it’s widely assumed that Tarkov is now in the twilight stages of being a beta-based game. In the coming months, it could be announced that a 1.0 version is on the way.
For the average existing player, it won’t mean too much. Despite there being some huge amendments on the horizon, Escape from Tarkov will always fundamentally remain the same game. There have been countless changes over the years, but even someone taking a lengthy break away from the game can come back without too steep a learning curve.
Here’s the short trailer shared recently by Battlestate Games:
The video also revealed the new story missions that are set to be added to the game soon. These missions will see players finally get the ability to escape from Tarkov, presenting them with a gameplay mechanic that’ll bring the game full circle for the first time. It has been suggested that to successfully escape from Tarkov, players will need to traverse every map in the game, following a deadly path that takes them across every environment before ultimately attempting to leave the game forever.
It’ll assumedly end with a manual account wipe, with players escaping and then being given the chance to ‘rebuild’ from the ground up. That aspect is yet to be confirmed, but it makes sense.
