Fnatic vs BOOM Esports – Dota 2 DPC SEA S2 Match Prediction for 28/04

Fnatic vs BOOM Esports is the most important match of the season at Dota Pro Circuit 2021: S2 SEA. With a rocky start against Execration, Fnatic faces a must win scenario to stay in the race for the major. Alternatively, BOOM could really use a win to evade potential tiebreakers against OB Neon and Omega.

Let’s also recap how the season is shaping up and where teams are headed. The third week of matches is set to begin on the 28th of April.

FNC vs BOOM DPC SEA

Fnatic vs BOOM Esports match predictions

Most providers are favoring Fnatic in this matchup despite them being in an absolute free fall. They got stomped at the Singapore Major, and manhandled by Execration in their first match at DPC SEA S2. Yet, providers favor them regardless, in a matchup against a team that has beaten them consistently in the past. In fact, the last time Fnatic won against BOOM Esports was on May 31st last year.

BOOM Esports has the roster consistency to win this series with relative ease in my estimate. The players are by absolute veterans and have faced multiple versions of Fnatic over the past year and beat/tied all of them. FNC on the other hand, has gone from one roster change to another, and then a third and a fourth. Their latest addition Ng “ChYuan” Kee Chyuan joined the roster only two weeks ago.

When looking at playstyles, Fnatic is opting up to play slow comps that neither win early nor super late, and is always losing one way or the other. The new roster addition might spice things up, but if they remain with their current pick strategy they are unlikely to win any game. BOOM Esports on the other hand is open to adjustments and different comps between games. It might cost them a game to try out a strategy but they will revert back to comfort in the next.

Overall, I think this is a win for BOOM Esports and a 2:1 in total score. You can expect x2.02 return on BOOM winning outright and a massive x3.54 on correct score predictions over at GG.BET.

Dota 2 DPC SEA Season 2 competitive status

Lets dig in the rest of the competition, and how things are shaping up thus far.

Lilgun has probably “secured” last spot in the competition already. After dropping three matches to Omega, T1 and BOOM they are pretty much done when it comes to seeding. They can at best play spoilers now against hard favorites TNC Predator, or even ruin FNCs day and potentially equalize for last place.

Omega Esports, despite being called “underdogs” are a win or two away from securing spot at the Major. Week 4 is where we will focus on the them as they face both FNC and OB x Neon in a single week to determine their destiny.

TNC Predator is the absolute team to beat at DPC SEA Season 2. After acquiring Jun “Bok” Kanehara and Marvin “Boomy” Rushton from Omega Esports, they have managed to reach new heights with their play. Unless something goes drastically wrong in the following weeks, TNC is the likely winner this season.

OB Esports x Neon, formerly Neon Esports, made everyone hop onto its bandwagon at Singapore Major. They defeated big-shot teams, such as Vici Gaming and Virtus.pro, and even gave Team Secret a run for their money. However, the eye candy was the stand-in, Yang “Deth” Wu Heng, but he’s currently not on the active line-up. The original roster is performing way worse, and Dota 2 odds-wise, Neon is getting favorable odds without justification. If might be a good to go bet against them this season.

Finally, T1 and Execration have the toughest week of the entire lot. Both teams have to face against Omega/Neon and BOOM/TNC respectively. Whoever comes up ahead this week, will also have to win their head2head next week and seal their Major spot right there and then. Both teams must have a good week, if they want to secure placements.
