Ford + Rocket League Freestyle Invitational to feature crazy exotic content

There’s no shortage of cool Rocket League players, and this upcoming event is about to have the finest compete in a league quite literally of their own! Eight of the best freestylers will be invited to put their skills to the test at the end of the month. On February 24th and 28th, they will be sim driving for a REAL CAR!

More specifically, a 2021 Ford F-150. That’s a pretty cool prize – and it’s also a fantastic hype event just before the start of the North American Major Grand Finals on Twitch. They in turn are happening on the 27th and the 28th of February, with the second half of the Freestyle Invitational happening just before the biggest showdown of the event.

Competition for 8, fun for all

As you may have guessed from the mention of the freestylers, the competition will be entirely made up of freestyle moves, which the competitors can use in order to impress the panel of judges. We don’t yet have any details on who will be invited (or even who will host or judge the remote event) but we are definitely looking forward to seeing some of the best spinny, fly-ey moves Rocket League can deliver!

Of course, it wouldn’t really be much of a Rocket League event if there weren’t also perks for players at home. In this case, the perks come in the shape of a new bundle that’s coming to the store. You’ll be able to buy it in it’s own tab in the item store. Watch out though. it won’t be available after February 28th.

You can buy the Ford F-150 bundle after the 20th of February. You’ll get engine audio, SE and FE Wheels, a Ford F-150 RLKE Boost, a player banner, and a chairman decal. It’ll set you back 1500 credits.

Partnering Ford

Obviously, Ford is a big deal in Rocket League given their on-going partnership – and that extends beyond what we just told you about. Ford is the main sponsor for all RLCS X Winter Majors, which includes the South American Regional Major starting this weekend as well. In other words, you’ll be seeing Ford’s quite a lot – especially the Ford F-150 that’ll feature so prominently in the game at the moment.

Ehab Kaoud, Chief Designer at Ford stated:

“It had to be an F-150 but one that fits within Psyonix’ extreme virtual world pairing soccer and mayhem, F-150 is already the most popular truck in the real world, and this F-150 Rocket League Edition is poised to be the most popular truck in the gaming world, too. It’s Built Ford Tough meets gaming.”

Additionally, Ford is set to produce their Rocket League spots narrated by actor Bryan Cranston. We hope there is a  “say my name” line somewhere in there.

The Rocket League Championship Series Winter Majors will feature a strong Ford presence every weekend in February:

  • South American Winter Major: Feb. 13-14
  • European Winter Major: Feb. 20-21
  • Ford + Rocket League Freestyle Invitational: Feb. 24 and Feb. 28
  • North American Winter Major: Feb. 27-28

The Rocket League’s Twitch and YouTube channels is set to host all the action throughout this month.
