Fortnite new weapon in the works for Chapter 5: What we know
Fortnite is no stranger to unique weapons. They are always introducing different guns and items to use that often drive forward the theme of a season. Chapter 5 Season 3’s Nitro Fists are a perfect example. They’re strange, but they fit with the theme of the season and give players something new to try. The latest leak suggests that another unique weapon is being tested for Chapter 5 moving forward. It’s unclear if it will be part of the current season, especially since they’re just now testing it. Here’s what we know about the new upcoming weapon in Fortnite.

Fortnite new weapon: Epic is testing Dual SMGs
Per the leak from reliable leaker ShiinaBR, Fortnite could eventually have dual SMGs in the game. There has been only one dual weapon in the game, the Dual Pistols. There have been variations, such as the Hop Rock Dualies and the Dual Suppressed Pistols, but only pistols have been held in both hands at once. SMGs have a much higher firing rate than any other weapon in the game, so in theory, a dual SMG would be capable of obliterating builds and dealing loads of damage in a few seconds.
The leak states that Epic has introduced a tag for Dual SMGs that will allow bots to carry them. If they’re programming the computers to be able to pick up and use certain weapons, then it’s a safe bet that players will one day be able to do the same.
The leak did not indicate when this new weapon would land in Fortnite, but it’s likely sooner rather than later.
New weapons can be big changes, but not big enough to warrant waiting seasons to bring them on.
Additionally, the rapid-fire nature of this weapon could make for a good car counter. Cars and vehicles are extremely strong in Chapter 5 Season 3. This is by design, but it forces Epic to consider how they can be countered so they’re not overpowered. While nothing about the current information suggests an immediate release, the Dual SMGs for Fortnite would make a lot of sense in Chapter 5 Season 3. They’d be able to deal a lot of vehicle damage quickly, thus balancing the fights a little more.
