Leaks claim Blitz Royale will become permanent in Fortnite

Blitz Royale quickly became one of the most popular modes in Fortnite, and several insiders claim that Epic is going to make it a permanent installment.

Chapter 6: Season 3 marked the introduction of Blitz Royale mode in Fortnite, a fast-paced version of the game’s core battle royale. While intended as a temporary distraction from the main game, the alternate mode has become so popular that Epic is reportedly considering making it permanent. The rumors come from multiple reputable leaks and insiders in the Fortnite space, making the addition even more likely. Here’s why we think Blitz Royale will become a new official game mode and what makes it so popular in the first place.

Leaks claim Blitz Royale may become permanent

Multiple established leakers, including Shiina and HYPEX, have claimed that Blitz Royale will become a permanent Fortnite game mode.

The announcement comes after an extension. Blitz Royale was originally intended to end on July 14, 2025, but Epic extended it to the end of Season 3. A week later, multiple leakers claim that the developer is considering making it a full-time expansion to the game. HYPEX claims that Epic will support the game mode until at least 2027. Meanwhile, Shiina noted that some quest deadlines for the game have been changed to the same year. While Epic has not officially confirmed the mode will stay, those numbers lining up combined with the mode’s popularity make it even more likely.

Why do Fortnite players love Blitz Royale?

Fortnite players love Blitz Royale for its fast pace, roguelike elements, and mobile compatibility.

Blitz Royale is a faster version of the standard Zero Build battle royale. It features 32 players and a much smaller map, encouraging quick combat. As players get kills and survive the storm, they get special upgrades and weapons. Blitz Royale matches only take about five minutes, which makes it well-suited to the mobile version of the game.

That faster pace also affects many other parts of the Fortnite gameplay loop. Since matches are fast and lobbies are small, matchmaking times are much faster than the standard mode. Short matches also makes it easier to show off a wide variety of skins when playing with friends. Lastly, the  roguelike elements are a breath of fresh air from the standard battle royale loop of looting and shooting. The mode may become less popular with time, but if it becomes permanent, Blitz Royale will always be an attractive option on the queue menu.
