How to Play Covert Ops in Arena Breakout: Infinite (Guide)

In Arena Breakout: Infinite, players can assume control of one of two ‘character types’. Most commonly, they’ll be playing as a PMC in the game’s ‘Tactical Ops’ mode, which is the main progression path for players in ABI. However, those who want a change of pace and less of a challenge will pick Covert Ops. It’s the alternate mode that players can choose when they want to relax a little more, and in this guide, we’re going to outline how to play Covert Ops in Arena Breakout: Infinite.

There are some prerequisites to being able to play Covert Ops. It’s locked behind a level requirement, but that’s about it. Read on to learn everything you need to know about Covert Ops in Arena Breakout: Infinite, including when you unlock the option to play that mode.

How to Unlock Covert Ops in Arena Breakout: Infinite

Covert Ops in Arena Breakout: Infinite

Once you start playing Arena Breakout: Infinite, you’ll notice that there are two characters to pick from on the main screen. You’ll also notice that one of these characters is unavailable until you hit level five. That’s Covert Ops, and that’s the only blocker to playing as that character type – you need to level up a little first. That can be achieved by playing through the tutorial sections in Tactical Ops, assuming control of a PMC and completing a few starter tasks.

If you manage to hit ‘LL5’, you’ll unlock Covert Ops in Arena Breakout: Infinite and will be able to play as this less challenging character type.

Covert Ops Explained

Covert Ops will see your character don a disguise, enter a map and pretend to be one of the many ‘militia’ operatives that roam the environment. These are the AI-driven enemies that populate the game, and they’re typically the opponents you’ll find yourself fighting most regularly. As you’re disguised, they won’t engage you as they normally would, but as soon as you do something that’s deemed aggressive against them, you’re fair game and they’ll hunt you relentlessly.

In Covert Ops in Arena Breakout: Infinite, players spawn in a random location on a map a little later into a raid. That means that there’s less time left in the match and you’re entering after Tactical Ops players have spawned in and picked most of the good loot up. Regardless, there are still items to be found, bodies to be looted, and players to fight – you just now have the advantage of looking like an AI character.

When you play as a Covert Ops character, your equipment will be randomised, and you’ll rarely get the same gear twice. That means you’ll be able to try out some Arena Breakout: Infinite weapons you might not have accessed yet. You’ll also be unable to complete or progress tasks unless the tasks you’re doing require you to find certain items in a raid – they work just fine.

That’s effectively everything you need to know about Covert Ops in Arena Breakout: Infinite. If you need more information about the game, check out our guide that teaches you how to heal in ABI. Have fun out there!
