How to defeat Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO – August 2022

The month has changed, which means Pokémon GO has all new Legendary Pokémon appearing in raids. Dialga, Zapdos, Articuno and others are gone for the time being and in their place this month will be four new Legendaries.

Legendary Pokémon mainly only come around in raids, so defeating them is incredibly important. They’re also incredibly difficult to take down, which is why a good party and lots of friends is very helpful. In fact, it’s impossible to defeat even the lowest CP Legendary without at least three other friends with strong Pokémon.

Here’s the full list of what’s coming in August and how best to defeat it.

First up is Dialga’s counterpart. After the God of Time departed, the God of Space, Palkia, began appearing. This five-star Legendary carries a CP of nearly 55,000 and a type combo of Water/Dragon.

Palkia will only be available until August 10, when it will be replaced. Making its return on August 10 is Genesect. It’s currently unclear but very likely that the Genesect will be one with a different hard drive than seen before.

After that, Zacian and Zamazenta, the pair of Legendaries from the Galar region, will be returning for the first time since their debut last year. They’ll show up beginning August 18. These will also be the Legendaries for the remainder of the month since there are two of them.

Who knows what September will hold?

How to defeat each Legendary Pokémon in August 2022

Palkia is currently showing up in raids right now. The five-star Pokémon is weak to Fairy and Dragon types. However, with every Dragon-type Pokémon, there is a risk that Palkia will have a Dragon move and be able to make swift work of your party.

Trainers should stock up on Fairy types- Sylveon, Clefable, Xerneas, Togekiss, Alolan Ninetales, Gardevoir and Dedenne. Mega Altaria is a rare Dragon/Fairy dual type, so that is also an excellent choice. When using Dragon types against Palkia, it’s probably best to use Pokémon that aren’t Dragon type but can have Dragon moves such as Rampardos, Steelix, Gyarados or Lugia.

  • Genesect is a Bug/Steel type, which makes it quite weak against Fire type moves. Fill the party with Pokémon like Charizard, Flareon, Blaziken, Incineroar and Heatran to make quick work of the five-star raid.
  • Zacian is a Fairy-type Pokémon, which makes it weak to Fire and Ground. Hippowdon, Charizard, Groudon, Rhyperior, Claydol, Krookodile, Arcanine and Typhlosion are all excellent choices.
  • Zamazenta is a Fighting-type, which makes it vulnerable to Psychic, Flying and Fairy moves. Sylveon, Togekiss, Lugia, Braviary, Bronzong, Mewtwo, Deoxys, Xatu and Gardevoir (Psychic/Fairy type) are Pokémon that will make the battle much easier for trainers.

Overall, beating the Legendaries this month is a challenge, but you should probably have a type to beat all of them with ease by now.
