WAX Launches Cryptocurrency Wallet Targeted at Blockchain Gamers
Blockchain network and decentralized application (DApp) development platform WAX has released its WAX Cloud Wallet aimed at blockchain game players.
Cryptocurrency wallets can sometimes be complicated to understand and use. WAX has developed a wallet that it says makes it easier to access blockchain-based games, or DApps, and store digital assets like cryptocurrencies and in-game items tokenized into non-fungible tokens (NFTs). WAX says:
“WAX has set out to solve this madness with the launch of the WAX Cloud Wallet, a simple and powerful cryptocurrency wallet that makes blockchain applications as easy to log in and use as your Amazon.com account.”
The wallet is targeted at “non-blockchain savvy” users and aims to make DApps accessible to “casual gamers.”
WAX Cloud Wallets are free to create and can be logged into using social networks like Facebook instead of needing to worry about cryptocurrencies usual private key management. WAX Co-founder William Quigley says:
“Most crypto wallets are still WAY too difficult for a mainstream audience.”
But the WAX wallet allows users to create a blockchain account in a few clicks. Quigley adds:
“The WAX Cloud Wallet is part of our continuing effort to make blockchain easy for everyone.”
With blockchain creating new monetization opportunities for game publishers and ways for gamers to take advantage of in-game assets and rewards that can be taken outside of games, the WAX development could be a prudent one for the space. Though it’s estimated that around 50% of gamers and Millennials already own cryptocurrencies there are many gamers who don’t yet know much about the technology.
The WAX Cloud Wallet, as per a WAX press release and SludgeFeed, can store blockchain-based in game assets and crypto collectibles, allow for item sales, and can be used to store tokenized game rewards.
CEO of blockchain game Prospectors, launching on the WAX blockchain this week, Nazar Chervinskiy says:
“The WAX Cloud Wallet is a big deal for dapp developers like Prospectors because we believe we can attract the billions of non-blockchain savvy users who might want to try out your dApp but just don’t want to deal with the blockchain technical details.”

With gaming giants like Ubisoft and well-funded blockchain game platform startups like Mythical Games also pursuing blockchain’s potential for game economies such purportedly easier to use developments from the cryptocurrency and blockchain space will be key to a successful confluence of both sectors for gamers.
