After being pushed back and teased for quite some time, Riot finally has finally revealed the abilities of Skarner and his LoL rework.

Skarner Rework – Discover his abilities

Skarner was voted by the community as the champion that would receive a rework in 2023. That said, the dev team encountered issues that brought his rework to a halt and forced Riot to push back the VGU. Now, however, the rework is finally here and it will be hitting the PBE soon.

Below you can find the abilities rundown for Skarner and his VGU. While numbers are yet to come out, you can check out how his kit will look like.

Skarner rundown

Passive – Threads of Vibration

  • Skarner’s basic attacks, Shattered Earth, Upheaval, and Impale apply a stack of Quaking to enemies hit for 4 seconds, refreshing on subsequent applications and stacking up to 3 times. Enemies afflicted with 3 stacks take magic damage equal to 7% − 12% (based on level) of their maximum health over the duration, capped at 75 − 300 (based on level) against monsters

Q – Shattered Earth

  • Q1: Skarner rips a rock out of the ground and uses it to empower his next three attacks with bonus damage, range, and attack speed. His third attack slams the rock into his target, slowing and dealing significant bonus damage, ending the effect.
    • Bonus physical damage per hit: 10/20/30/40/50 (+ 6% of his bonus health)
    • Total bonus physical damage: 30/60/90/120/150 (+ 18% of his bonus health)
    • Bonus attack speed: 25/30/35/40/45%
  • Q2 (Upheaval): Skarner may re-cast Upheaval to throw the rock as a projectile that explodes on the first enemy hit, dealing the same damage and slow, ending the effect.
    • Additional bonus damage: 12/13/14/15/16% of the target’s maximum health
    • Monster percent health damage cap: 100/200/300/400/500
    • Cost: 40 mana
    • Cooldown: 13/11.5/10/8.5/7 seconds
    • Cast time: 0.5 seconds

W – Seismic Bastion

  • Skarner gains a shield and slams into the ground, releasing a shockwave that damages and slows nearby enemies.
    • Magic damage: 60/90/120/150/180
    • Slow: 30/35/40/45/50%
    • Cost: 30 mana
    • Cooldown: 10/9/8/7/6 seconds
    • Cast time: 0.3 seconds
    • Speed: 1650

E – Ixtal’s Impact

  • ACTIVE: Skarner charges forward in the direction of the cursor for up to 2.75 seconds, during which he gains slow immunity, becomes ghosted, ignores terrain collision, and has unobstructed vision of the surrounding 650 units. He automatically navigates his movement along the way and is able to steer himself with a slow turn rate that increases over time, resetting upon changing direction. Ixtal’s Impact can be recast after 1 second, and does so automatically after the duration. Skarner begins the charge at a static amount of Movement speed icon 150 movement speed that increases by 100 every 0.264 seconds, up to 950 total movement speed by the end of the duration. If Skarner collides with an enemy champion or large monster, he grabs them with his claws for the time of the remaining charge, You and Me! attaching them to himself, suppressing them, increasing the charge’s turn rate to the maximum, and gaining 300 bonus movement speed, with a minimum total of 650 and a maximum total of 1150. If a target has been grabbed before the first 1.75 seconds of the charge, the remaining duration is set to 1 second and set to 0.5 seconds otherwise. The charge does not ramp up in speed while a target is grabbed.
  • If Skarner’s attached target collides with terrain while being held, the charge ends, detaching them from him, dealing physical damage, stunning them for 1.5 seconds, and reducing Ixtal’s Impact’s cooldown by 35%.
  • RECAST: Skarner ends Ixtal’s Impact. If a target has been grabbed, he detaches them from himself.
    • Physical damage: 30/60/90/120/150 (+ 10% of his maximum health)
    • Cost: 50 mana
    • Cooldown: 24/22/20/18/16
    • Cast time: none
    • Collision radius: 160

R – Impale

  • ACTIVE: Skarner winds up his tails over the cast time, during which he is displacement immune, then lashes them forward in a cone in the target direction, impaling up to 3 of the closest enemy champions within the area to deal magic damage to all enemies hit and  suppress the impaled champions for 1.5 seconds, during which they are attached to Skarner. If at least one target is hit, Skarner gains 40% bonus movement speed for the same duration.
  • If Impale is cast during Shattered EarthSkarner automatically casts Upheaval in the direction of Impale’s cast. Skarner is unable to basic attack, cast Shattered Earth or Ixtal’s Impact, or use Flash during Impale. While the targets are impaled, they are attached to Skarner in a position that is in front of him.
    • Magic damage: 150/250/350 (+100% AP)
    • Cost: 100 mana
    • Cooldown: 120/105/90 seconds
    • Cast time: 0.75 seconds
    • Range: 50 – 625

Skarner looks a lot different from how it has been so far, making him a more battle-heavy champion rather than just being a walking stat checker with a strong R button. That said, numbers will be vital to understand whether he will be relevant in the upcoming weeks.
