Pokémon GO Season of GO ending soon, new season teased
Pokémon GO’s Season of GO, which has lasted nearly three months, is coming to a close on September 1. The last season has been filled with nothing but excellence for Niantic and The Pokémon Company. The next season has officially been announced: The Season of Light.
Season of Light is coming soon in Pokémon GO
Pokémon GO posted an official teaser for the new season, saying it would last through December.
The image in the teaser tweet seems to potentially show off new Pokémon that just might arrive next season. Creatures like Solgaleo, Lunala, Mimikyu and others may arrive soon.
The light theme of the next season also connects to Pokémon: Sun and Moon, the seventh generation of mainline games. The Alola region was explored in the season prior to Season of GO, but it’s still largely unexplored.
Additionally, Lunala and Solgaleo are two Legendaries from the region of Alola that have yet to appear, making them a prime candidate for arrival this season. Furthermore, those two Pokémon fit the light them that Niantic seems to be going for.
However, Niantic might also add Cosmog and Cosmoem, a pre-evolution for the Legendary. They would be the first Legendary Pokémon to get pre-evolutions in Pokémon GO.
Pokémon GO showed Cosmog and Cosmoem in silhouette form in the teaser video sent out by Niantic.
Lastly, the start of a new season means the end of the current one.
What the end of Season of GO means
The end of Season of GO marks the end of one of the best seasons the game has had. It also means the spawns will change, raids will change and the loading screen will change.
Trainers will see different creatures around them. They’ll experience very different events. There will also be different possibilities.
For example, during the Season of GO, trainers were able to make two special trades in a day. That is a very rare and beneficial ability. It very well might not be possible next season, so trainers should take advantage now.
Seasonal Pokémon are available from certain eggs, but that will change in a few days.
It also means the GO Battle League will completely change. Everything will reset, which means these last few days are the final opportunity to grind and earn rewards. Pokémon available this season are:
Trainers will begin at Rank 1 when the season starts. When that happens, they will earn stardust based on their rank. Ranking up now is the last opportunity to increase that total.
The Season of GO also includes a few other things:
- Guaranteed gifts from PokéStops
- Increased attack bonus from friends in raids
- Increased incense effectiveness while walking
- Double lure duration
- Guaranteed Candy XL when transferring
These are fairly common. However, there’s always a chance these change with the season.
