StarCraft 2 – Brawler’s Club

When it comes to big tournaments, there are not that many of them in the Starcraft competitive scene. However, when it comes to smaller tournaments, where the best players will participate only to keep the flow going on a high level, tournaments like the Brawler’s Club are here to cover our need for some high-quality Starcraft content, even if it is not on a huge stage like IEM.

What is the Brawler’s Club?

As we mentioned, it is a small tournament where professional players can keep up the flow of high-tier gameplay while they are waiting for some big action to happen. The tournament is hosted by Alpha X and SomeDrunkCanadian, who are also casting all the games on their Twitch streams as well.

The first Brawler’s Club was held on May 1st, 2021, and every two weeks (biweekly), the hosts have been inviting players to compete for a small prize pool of $350 (the first one actually had $250). The tournament is being held on the South Korean server, so most of the players are going to be from that region, with a few exceptions in certain tournaments.

What is the format?

The format for this one is quite interesting, as it will feature 4 invited players who will battle each other in a Round-Robin format. That means that everyone is going to play everyone, and the player with the most wins is the winner of the tournament. All matches are played best out of three, and in case there is a draw in match wins, then the winner is the one who had the least defeats across all matches played.

When it comes to the invited professional players, they vary from those who had a very successful run recently to those who have been successful in the previous season. While the tournament’s prize pool is not massive, all of the players are taking it very seriously, as you can easily tell by the matches if you happen to tune in to one of the tournaments.

Tournament History

Since this tournament is being held biweekly, and it started off in 2021, there have been quite a lot of tournaments so far. In 2021, there have been a total of 18 tournaments, and in 2022 there have been 5 tournaments so far.
