Clash Royale has built an impressive esports scene already, pre-empting many of these bigger names. The Clash Royale League 2021 is seeing some big changes though.

What is Clash Royale League?

The Clash Royale League is Supercell’s official Esports league for Clash Royale. This is the main event and the top tier of competition for players of the mobile game. In previous years, the event was organized into a more formal team-based format. The prize pool was still the biggest for the game, along with a coveted trophy.

In 2020, the Clash Royale League had a prize pool of $225,000. Teams first competed in a group stage, with the top six teams advancing forward into the play-offs. This tournament playoff was just the culmination of the event though.  An entire season of events precipitated the finals. Two of these were held in each year, as a Spring and Fall Season.

That’s how the League normally works, it is going to be quite different for the Clash Royale League 2021.

Clash Royale League 2021 Changes and Format

The Clash Royale League 2021 is switching to a more anarchic format, throwing out the formal league structure entirely! The league is removing teams entirely. Players will be competing individually instead. The competition is going to be a full-on free for all. While this news might seem like it’s reducing things, it is coming with a major boost in prize money. The pool for the Clash Royale League 2021 is climbing up to $1.6 million.

The league will next year switch to a full global tournament. Over the year, eight seasons are going to be taking place. In each, there will be a Royale Rumble, followed by monthly qualifiers, and a monthly final in a play-off structure. The Royale Rumble cuts the entrants down to just the top 1,000 players. These qualifiers then whittle things down further.

The whole event will come to a close in the Clash Royale League 2021 World Finals. This is going to take place in October and be a testing ground for the players who have excelled throughout the entire year.

The more open format for the Clash Royale League is a big change for the League. It is bound to have an effect on how the action goes down, with players just competing for themselves rather than a team. This new approach is looking to liven things up a bit. With more Clash Royale League 2021 events happening than ever, with bigger prize pools too.
