Fortnite Daredevil Cup – First batch of Daredevils jumps into Athena

Fortnite’s latest season has featured a lot of Marvel tie ins. There have been skins, superpowers in-game, and locations on the map taken from Marvel characters. This weekend we saw a new expansion of this, with the Season’s theme now tying directly into competitive events. The Fortnite Daredevil Cup is an event being held in-game, with a semi-exclusive skin the prize up for grabs.

Fortnite has held tournaments before that featured a skin as a reward. Most recently, they gave away a sinister apple business villain skin for competitors in a tournament that tied into their whole legal battle with Apple. With the Daredevil Cup, it was a bit harder to actually get your hands on the skin. However, it will eventually be sold in the item shop too, the tournament just gave you an early first chance to get it. This is what you need to know about the Fortnite Daredevil Cup and the Marvel Knockout Super series.

Fortnite Daredevil Cup

The Fortnite Daredevil Cup started on October 14th across all regions. This one was played as Trios, but a bit differently then a normal tournament. This tournament was taking place as part of the Marvel Knockout Super series. Logically, it was part of the Marvel Knockout game mode. This LTM focuses on the new items introduced in this season. So the best Fortnite Battle Royale players won’t necessarily be standing out this time around.

The prize pool for the overall Marvel Knockout Super Series is $1,000,000. However, this is spread across the four tournaments that are going to be taking place. The Fortnite Daredevil Cup has an extra incentive with the free skin though. This is who will qualify to receive that bonus:

  • North America East – 1-500th placing players.
  • North America West – 1-200th placing players.
  • Europe – 1-800th placing players.
  • Brazil – 1-200th placing players.
  • Asia – 1-100th placing players.
  • Oceania – 1-100th placing players.
  • Middle East – 1-100th placing players.

If players miss out on getting the Daredevil skin from this event, it will be coming to the item shop pretty soon anyway! The future rounds of the Marvel Knockout Super Series might feature skins as rewards too. Although, that overall prize pool is definitely alluring enough on its own.

The first batch of Winners have already placed within the top and are now sharing their path to the Daredevil skin. Here’s a view of what it took for Avery “Avxry” LoPriore, SypherPK & Hogman to claim their skins.

What’s Next for Competitive Fortnite?

Fortnite season 4 is having the usual spread of cups and the Fortnite Champion Series. The Marvel Knockout Super Series is a bit of a departure from the norm though. This tournament is focused entirely around the theme of a Natle Pass and the limited-time mode that ties into it. Fortnite doesn’t usually offer competitive events for these modes, let alone high-profile events like this.

The Marvel Knockout Super Series is a sign that Fortnite is diversifying their competitive offerings. This is very much in-line with the whole ‘meta-verse’ thing that Epic seems to be going for. It is unlikely to replace the main tournaments, but these events are a fun distraction from the competitive main game.
