Malphite is an AP tank that can do much burst damage in the blink of an eye. He can also poke you down in lane, and is relatively difficult to gank, being the tanky pile of rocks that he is. There are many ways you can build Malphite. Some prefer to build a full tank to be the front line for their team’s needs. Others like to go full AP glass-cannon build and be able to one-shot squishy enemy targets.

If you are going for a tankier build, Hollow Radiance is normally the route you want to take; early on, with Bamis Cinder, you will be a menace in the lane and can stand up to other melee champions in the Top Lane. If burst damage is more your style, going Luden’s Tempest into Stormsurge is probably the best option for the full-AP Malphite builds. Since you are a glass cannon with the AP build, it is normally a one-way ticket once you have used your ultimate when it comes to team fights. Your primary goal is to see the squishy carry and delete them.

Here are Malphite’s current abilities in League of Legends:

Granite Shield (Passive): Malphite gains a shield after not taking damage for 8 seconds.

Seismic Shard (Q): Malphite launches a shard of rock at a selected target. This deals Magic Damage while also slowing the enemy. During this time, Malphite gains movement speed for a short duration.

Thunderclap (W): Passive: Malphite gains armor which is increased while his Granite Shield passive is active.

Ground Slam (E): Malphite slams the ground, dealing Magic Damage and reducing the enemy’s Attack Speed for 3 seconds.

Unstoppable Force (R): Malphite unstoppably charges towards a target location and knocks up enemies in the surrounding area for 1.5 seconds. This ability deals Magic Damage.
