LCK Week 9: predictions of Days 1 & 2

Day 1

Griffin vs. Hanwha Life Esports

Coming into Week 9, Griffin remain the top team in the LCK, currently 12-2. That said, last week had been a shocking week for the team, dropping two of their only two games to Gen.G and Afreeca Freecs. Hanwha remain a strong team but still tend to fall against top teams like DWG and SKT as they did in Week 8. While Griffin are largely favoured, Hanwha have a chance if Griffin remain on tilt.

Prediction: Griffin 60% l Hanwha Life Esports 40%

Kingzone vs. KT Rolster

Kingzone may be performing worse now than this time last year, that said, they remain a strong force in the LCK. Kingzone are consistent performers, taking clear games against lower to mid-tier teams, but still having a chance against other top teams. KT on the other hand are on the bottom of the ladder, a major fall compared to their stunning run last year.

Prediction: Kingzone 85% l KT Rolster 15%

Day 2

Afreeca Freecs vs. Gen.G

Afreeca are yet another team that has fallen compared to their top three finish in the 2018 LCK Summer playoffs, and appearance at worlds. After losing half of their roster, Afreeca has failed to recover, falling behind the majority of teams in the LCK. On the surface Gen.G do not look any better, a win behind the Afreeca Freecs, both teams lurking around the lower ends of the ladder. However, Gen.G’s ability to take down Korea’s top team, Griffin, last week is a major statement.

Prediction: Afreeca Freecs 35% l Gen.G 65%
