Riot to Publish LoL and TFT in Southeast Asia, Garena partnership ends in 2023

Riot Games will take responsibility for publishing LoL and TFT in Southeast Asia from 2023, as their partnership with Garena runs out on January 2023. Both parties worked together for 12 years and Garena had the responsibility for publishing League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics titles.

Ending the partnership

Riot Games is one of the biggest gaming companies in the world right now as they have some of the most popular gaming titles of all time. League of Legends, VALORANT, Teamfight Tactics, Wild Rift, and Runeterra are the titles that are known in the western world. However, there is a whole different universe that Riot Games has built in the eastern part of the world. That universe has been run by Garena for the past 12 years. From now on, this will change as Riot Games decided to end its partnership with the company. Starting with January 2023, the company will push and publish its own content and other stuff for League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics and players will be able to climb TFT ranks under Riot’s publishments!

Riot released a blog post to introduce the change and even answered a couple of questions that might come to players’ minds. The company will also open more offices in the Southeast Asia region like the Philippines and Indonesia. Garena will also hold an important responsibility in the process as they will work closely with Riot to help the process go smoothly for the players. If you have a Garena account and will transfer it to the new system without giving any casualties regarding skins, ranks, Riot Points, and experience. The migration will start on November 19, 2022, from Garena to Riot Games.

One of the most important questions has been answered by Riot on the blog spot which explains the ways will the Riot League/TFT experience differ from Garena’s:

“Our goal is to provide League/TFT players in Southeast Asia with the same in-game experience as other League regions. We also aim to provide the meaningful engagement players have come to expect from Riot both online and offline through in-game campaigns, ease of accessibility to cross-franchise events, and exciting out-of-game experiences including community activities and regional Riot-operated League esports.”

Deeper Integration within the Riot ecosystem

The community might not see the benefits of the migration right after January 2023 but in the long term, players enjoy deeper content integration within the Riot ecosystem, with exciting in-game campaigns and cross-franchise campaigns to enjoy. Riot’s main goal is to provide players in Southeast Asia with the best player experience possible by opening access to the same in-game events and content as other League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics regions.

Unfortunately, Garena Shells will not be eligible for conversion to Riot Points but can still be used on other Garena games. As Riot’s system brings new monetization methods, this feature will not be available for the users. If you have any questions, players can reach the Riot Games Player Support for further information.

Both TFT and League hold big audiences and this means a lot to the community. TFT Monsters Attack has been revealed a while ago players enjoy the new set under the Garena brand for now. Lastly, don’t forget to check out LoL betting tips!
