The name gives it away, but the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 is the best wireless gaming controller. There isn’t much you can’t do with this controller. The customization options are vast. It’ll actually take you some time to even try everything out from the different sticks to triggers. Once you find the configuration perfect for you though, this might be the best controller on this list.
This controller has it all with six thumbsticks, two 2 d-pads, four rear paddles, and one adjustable thumbstick tension. It also uses a rechargeable battery that lasts around 40 hours. No other controller currently offers as much control for shooters. The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 is on the heavier side and costs $160, but it more than makes up for it with its performance.
The Xbox Core Wireless Controller is the go-to for most gamers. It is an improvement on the popular Xbox One Wireless Controller but shares many of its qualities, like the excellent hybrid d-pad and textured grip. There’s also a Share button now that captures screenshots and video footage.
It’s priced nicely, easy to use, and lighter than the Elite, but does not have a rechargeable battery. The Xbox Core Wireless Controller is set to be a staple for years to come.
This gamepad lacks most of the “pro” features many competitive controllers have. In sheer terms of usability though, it’s pretty good. It’s got a great construction and is high-quality throughout. If you want a standard gamepad like you’re used to, this is a fantastic controller.

With its unique thumbstick placement, the PlayStation controllers have always had their fans. These are gamepads with great ergonomics. If you’ve mainly used PlayStations before, it’s likely the most comfortable layout for you. The latest DualSense is a bit different from the DualShcok, but it has a lot to offer.
The DualShock has haptic motors and adaptive triggers, unique features that are fun for games that utilize them for greater detail in rumble. Namely, it’s all of a higher quality. In the modern console generation, players who want sticks that last beyond a few years of play without drifting every minute will have to make the upgrade.
You’re also going to find the competitive features that you’d expect. You’ve got paddles on the back so you can always have access to face buttons and both sticks. Plus, there the better triggers. It’s a little pricey but has a vastly higher quality than the base-level DualSense. It’s also considerably more built to last, so the price hike is lessened if you factor in lifespan.

The Turtle Beach Stealth Ultra controller is another that’s tailor-made for a more serious competitive player. It’s compatible with some consoles and PCs. A wireless controller with quite a few improvements to make it perfect for competitive play.
As a wireless controller, lag is pretty important. This is a low latency connection which should ensure your inputs are translated to the game instantly. It also comes with a battery dock for rapid charging and a 30-hour battery life. The Thumbsticks are particularly nice for those burnt by modern controllers, it has fully analog sticks with antidraft technology.
