VALORANT Mouse Settings Guide: DPI, Polling Rate, & Acceleration
VALORANT is all about aim which means it’s essential to use the right mouse settings such as DPI, polling rate and acceleration. While figuring out the right combinations of these settings isn’t rocket science for FPS experts, we’ve seen that many new players face difficulty finding a sweet spot. Therefore, we’ll walk them through the best VALORANT mouse settings, including DPI, polling rate and acceleration.

DPI means “dots per inch” and it represents the number of pixels your cursor will move for every inch your mouse is moved. Basically, it describes how sensitive your mouse is. A higher DPI means your cursor travels a greater distance with minimal arm movement, but a lower DPI offers greater control at the cost of more hand movement.
A majority of VALORANT players set their DPI to a value between 400 and 800. You might think it’s low if you’re used to normal Windows settings, but in VALORANT, you need precision over speed. When your DPI is lower, it’s easier to make those small, precise movements that matter a lot for aiming or covering angles.
When your DPI is too high, building consistent muscle memory becomes much harder, particularly in situations with long duels or fast crosshair movements. What is important is how you balance your DPI with your in-game sensitivity. For instance, players often choose 800 DPI along with an in-game sensitivity between 0.35 and 0.5. Consequently, you get enough accuracy without losing speed or responsiveness.
Best Polling Rate Setting for VALORANT
The polling rate, measured in hertz, is the number of times your mouse shares its position with your computer each second. A polling rate of 1000 Hz indicates that the position of your mouse is reported to your computer 1000 times each second. A higher polling rate leads to improved mouse responsiveness and better accuracy while gaming.
A polling rate of 1000 Hz is considered the standard in competitive VALORANT. Nearly every current gaming mouse can handle this, so the gap between your hand movements and what you see on the screen is kept small. Even though certain mice promote polling rates as high as 2000 or 8000 Hz, the gains for most VALORANT players are minimal.
A polling rate of 1000 Hz gives you the best response time without placing excessive demands on your system.
Best Mouse Acceleration Setting for VALORANT

With mouse acceleration, the distance your cursor travels depends on how fast you move your mouse. Even if you move your mouse the same distance, a fast swipe will move the crosshair farther when acceleration is on. Although mouse acceleration seems to help with fast turns, it creates a major drawback: inconsistency.
Because flicks, tracking, and precise adjustments are so important in VALORANT, mouse acceleration actually makes your aim less reliable. A large number of professional players and aim coaches advise that you should turn off mouse acceleration completely.
To properly disable mouse acceleration, you must go into the Windows settings and those of your mouse software to disable it. In Windows, navigate to Mouse Settings, then select “Additional mouse options” and move to the ‘Pointer Options’ tab. After that, simply uncheck the box marked “Enhance pointer precision,” because this is Windows’ way of referring to mouse acceleration. Make sure that any software from your mouse manufacturer, for example Logitech G HUB, also has mouse acceleration disabled.
Though a universal perfect mouse setting does not exist in VALORANT, there are definite standards that give the strongest starting point. You get the best and most reliable aim by using a DPI of 400 to 800, a polling rate of 1000 Hz, and disabling mouse acceleration. After that, the key is to rely on muscle memory and use the same settings regularly in order to build up accuracy.
