VCT 2022 Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen Format and Schedule

The VCT 2022 Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen is one of Riot Games’ official tournaments. Expect two double-elimination (GSL) groups, where matches are best-of-three. The eight low seed teams are divided into two groups, and only the top two seeds proceed to the Playoffs.

Whereas the four high-seed teams await the conclusion of Group Stage, where they can observe the opponents coming their way. Matches are best-of-three, except the lower final and Grand Final, being best-of-five.

Speaking of high-seed teams, they are winners from the four regional challengers, namely Fnatic (EMEA), XSET (North America), Paper Rex (Asia Pacific), and Leviatán (Latin America).

Whereas, the Group Stage participants include runner-ups from respective regions namely, FunPlus Phoenix, Guild Esports, OpTic Gaming, and XERXIA. Albeit, it’s not limited to DRX, Northeption, LOUD, and KRÜ Esports, which won their regional challengers.

Teams to watch at VCT 2022 Masters Copenhagen

Fnatic’s outstanding performance in EMEA Challengers is a relief after their letdown at VCT 2022 Stage 1 Masters. Frankly, it’s a long time coming, considering Fnatic’s crippling performance is evident since the last championship.

Picking up Enzo “Enzo” Mestari and Emir Ali “Alfajer” Beder just two months ago wasn’t exactly the most promising decision. However, what Alfajer puts on the table, has proven that he’s a prodigy for a player at his age. In contrast, Enzo is a veteran player instead, having Counter-Strike experience in his book before he switched.

While Fnatic can kick back as they watch the other candidates struggle in the Group Stage, it’s not wise to underestimate the competition in VCT 2022 Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen.

The Defending Champions

OpTic Gaming finds itself in an unusual spot for a VCT 2022 Stage 1 Masters Champ. Despite doing great in the NA Challenger, they were eventually overwhelmed by XSET. If anything, it’s XSET that we should be giving the credit here for managing to figure OpTic out after losing their previous encounter.

Nevertheless, we should cut OpTic some slack here, since their current line-up has delivered fruitfully for a team of only four-months-old. Moreover, XSET being the high seed team, meant that the group stage will be much more challenging for many candidates.

More powerhouses in the group stage

In fact, OpTic has much to worry about in the groups, such as FunPlus Phoenix, who is a staple from EMEA. We never really got to see them in action due to their withdrawal from Stage 1 Masters, but still a frightening team in our records.

LOUD, DRX, and XERXIA may not have many accomplishments in their book, but they have already qualified for VALORANT Champions 2022. Hence, the VCT 2022 Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen serves as a primer before we see these candidates compete for a much bigger prize pool. The VCT 2022 Stage 2 Masters Copenhagen is swelling to become an exciting clash of phenomenal teams. Coupled with the presence of big players in groups, meant that we get to watch truly powerful teams in action.
