The most popular Blizzard games

Of all the esports games that Blizzard has created over the years, the most popular ones are titles like Overwatch, Hearthstone and StarCraft II. There is also a small esports scene for Blizzard title World of Warcraft – the MMORPG has its own esports modes. While most people know it as one of the best MMORPGs out there, fewer people know about its esports side.

Of these esports titles, StarCraft II is by far the oldest – yet despite being over a decade old, the answer to the question ‘Is StarCraft still popular’ is a resounding YES. Especially in South Korea, SC fans are more than happy to play and bet on StarCraft II regularly. Despite its insane popularity, Blizzard have not yet confirmed if there will be a StarCraft 3 – many fans would certainly welcome a sequel in the decades-old franchise!

Surrounding the pros

In addition to the lively esports scenes themselves, there is also plenty of infrastructure around the pro competitions – from amateur leagues to betting providers, just about everyone likes to get in on Blizzard esports. Esports betting does not shy away from betting on Overwatch, for example.

Overwatch also has an entire second league to go with the regular OWL – the Contenders league, with its own set of teams and events every season. In other words – Overwatch fans always have esports news to check up on!

Hearthstone – a phenomenon

Compared to games like Overwatch – part of the popular shooter genre – Hearthstone is in a category of its own. The trading card game has a huge number of players and fans, yet is practically unique in the esports league.

Players spend endless amounts of time creating the best Hearthstone decks to compete with, and which cards they select really does make a huge difference. The elaborate set up and variety of cards in the game give it a huge appeal to fans of both esports and Hearthstone betting.

The future of Blizzard esports

In no small part of because of Blizzard-Activision’s dedication to keep Blizzard esports at the top, their games continue to grow and become ever more popular. More fans than ever are joining in on the fun, and even the Overwatch League itself gets expanded season-by-season – so don’t worry about running out of Blizzard esports news any time soon!
