How to Get a Nuke in Warzone 2

If there’s one thing that Call of Duty players love, it’s the ability to hurl a nuke at the lobby, effectively winning the game immediately. It has been a staple feature in the Call of Duty franchise since Modern Warfare 2 was first released in 2009, and it’s an ultimate destination for the most cracked players. With the launch of the all-new battle royale platform, players are wondering how to get a nuke in Warzone 2.

That’s correct – you can get a nuke in Warzone 2. It’s the first time we’ve seen such a feature crop up in Warzone – or in any battle royale, for that matter – and it effectively brings an end to your game, granting you an instant win. However, a strict set of rules must be followed to unlock a Warzone 2 nuke, and it’s not a task for the faint of heart.

This is one of the most challenging things you will ever accomplish in Warzone 2.

Traditionally, in Call of Duty’s multiplayer modes, players needed to reach a certain killstreak to unlock a nuke. This number has differed from title to title, and as the list of Call of Duty games grows, so too do the ways in which this ultimate streak reward is unlocked. In Warzone 2, it’s a whole different ballgame; a challenge like no other that will push competitors to the brink of their abilities.

Here’s how to get a nuke in Warzone 2:

  1. First, land a five-game win streak in Warzone 2 specifically in the battle royale modes.
  2. Track down the ‘Champion’s Quest’ contract in a game once you have won five matches.
  3. Trigger the contract and scour the map to collect three ‘parts’ of the nuke itself, which will be visible on the map for you and your team.
  4. Sit back and wait for the bomb site to appear on your tac-map.
  5. Secure the nuclear elements at the site and arm the nuke, triggering a countdown.
  6. Defend the nuke against all-comers for a two-minute countdown.

In a claim backed up by Raven Software, streamer ‘Stellar’ unlocked the world’s first Warzone 2 nuke. Here’s the clip of the final seconds of his journey:

Tips for Getting a Warzone 2 Nuke

Firstly, it’s important that you’re able to win a game of Warzone 2. That’s the first key step to securing a nuke in the game. Once you’ve managed to win one round, just win another four games, and you’re well on your way to unlocking a nuke in Warzone 2. It’s about having the best gunny and positioning in the game, but you could also try playing it extremely safe and sweating out the entire five-map period at the edges of the zones.

Unfortunately, the wins are the first hurdle. When you’ve started picking up the parts required to activate the Warzone 2 nuke, you’ll be marked on the map for all to see. Not only that, but the radiation emitting from these parts will mess with your electronics, making it almost impossible to read your mini-map. If you’re able to secure those parts, you’ll need to wait a few minutes for the bomb site to reveal itself, at which point, there’s a two-minute defence stage that pops up.

Now, for some, this is a lot of work for what might be a very small reward. While Warzone 2 boasts slower pacing, it does admittedly take quite a long time to a) secure the nuke elements, and b) locate and defend the bomb site. By the time the nuke is triggered, you’ll be lucky to be wiping even a dozen players from the match at the endgame stage.

Although, this is a free-to-play battle royale with absolutely no investment required other than time and effort, so it’s a risk-free experience overall.

So, that’s how you unlock a nuke in Warzone 2 – have fun with your new-found knowledge!
