Warzone 2.0 Circle Explained – How Does It Work?

When Warzone 2.0 launched on the 16th of November, it brought with it an all-new circle. In Warzone, the ‘circle’ is what closes slowly over the duration of the game, giving players a progressively smaller area in which to fight. However, the Warzone 2.0 circle is different than before, offering up an entirely new challenge for players. If you’re totally new to the game, you may be wondering how the Warzone 2.0 circle actually works.

In this guide, we’re going to take a look at the circle, how it’s different from the first Warzone game, and give you tips on how to beat it. It’s not a unique feature to the Warzone platform, as every battle royale (more or less) features such a mechanic, but the new variant introduced in Warzone 2.0 is quite unique in itself.

Typically, every match of Warzone 2.0 will play out as fans of the franchise would expect. There will be a circle of gas enveloping the map that’ll get smaller as time goes on, collapsing in on itself in a series of stages. It’s one of the most important things to keep an eye on as the game unfolds – and that’s one of the best Warzone 2.0 tips you’ll ever hear. There are many players that fall prey to the circle as it closes, choking off vast portions of the map.

However, there’s a small chance that, at random, the circle will split up into two, three, or even four smaller circles. This separates the map into sub-sections, but they’ll eventually wrap back around and rejoin one another, once again creating a full, single circle. It’s a fairly unique mechanic that means that players will need to stay on their toes, as the circles can move rapidly, intersperse with one another, and then ultimately, collapse entirely.

This multi-circle feature can create new barriers in the game at a moment’s notice, cutting off the Warzone buy station quicker than you could possibly reach it.

Tips for Beating the Warzone 2.0 Circle

The best way to beat the Warzone 2.0 circle is to just never go anywhere near it. For the most part, the weaker, less-skilled players ‘play the edges’, opting to stick close to the rim of the circle in order to avoid fights. If you’re a slower, stealthier player, that’s not a bad tactic, but it means you’ll always be running from the closing circle.

If you’ve really got to move fast, then you can make use of any one of the many vehicles scattered around Al Mazrah. They’re limited on fuel, so keep an eye on the gauge if you’re outrunning the gas. Alternatively, you can make use of your deployable parachute, jumping from the top of a building or a cliff and attempting to glide into safety.

Ultimately, if things get really desperate, you can last for a short period of time in the gas circle – but you’ll be coughing. If you can get a gas mask, then it’s fine, and you can actually use the gas circle as cover for a flanking manoeuvre.
