Rookie
Rookie (also written as RooKie and RooKiE) is undoubtedly one of the top mid laners in the world, finding a wide amount of success throughout his career. While Rookie has a wealth of experience, playing competitive League of Legends since 2013, the Korean mid laner has only been signed with two different teams.
Rookie’s time with KT Rolster Arrows
The KT Rolster Arrows was Rookie’s first team, which he joined in October 2013 and emerged as a rising talent. KT were able to upset SK Telecom T1 K in the HOT6iX Champions Spring 2014, a major achievement considering SKT were then, and continue to be one of the top teams in the world.
Rookie signs with Invictus Gaming
Following Rookie’s stunning performance in the HOT6iX Champions Spring 2014 and his expiring contract, Rookie was quickly picked up by Invictus Gaming in October 2014, one of the stronger teams at that time. This turned out to be a great decision for Rookie, as he was quickly able to grow with the team, and has stayed with Invictus ever since.
Rookie recent performance
More recently, Rookie along with Invictus has gained wide spread success, securing second place in the China Regional Finals 2017, just one game short of claiming first due to their 2-3 loss against World Elite. Shortly after, Invictus qualified for the NEST 2017, where they later steam rolled their competitors to claim first, having a perfect three final games. While Invictus had a strong run in the LPL 2018 Spring (East), losing only a single game, they unfortunately dropped the ball to the Rogue Warriors, placing fourth place in the 2018 Spring LPL Playoffs.
Looking at the LPL Summer Split – East, Rookie and his team claimed the top spot with another near perfect run, dropping only one game. Rookie performed well in the LPL 2018 Summer Playoffs, allowing his team to secure second place, only behind Royal Never Give Up with a 2-3 loss in the finals match.
Considering SKT were unable to qualify to enter the 2018 League of Legends World Championships, Rookie is considered to be one of the, if not the strongest mid laner in the tournament.
