The Sadge emote originated on 4chan in 2009. It was part of the larger Pepe the Frog webcomic, but really became popular later in life when he was co-opted for use in memes. This particular version of Pepe together with the PepeD Emote, are the most widely accepted versions of this “controversial” figure. The emote is part of BetterTTV and used on 943 channels.

There is also another song commonly used to pair with a Sadge moment.  The song called 1997 Spring by composer Ryo Yoshimata originally made for the Between Calm And Passion movie.

How to use Sadge Twitch emote?

Use Sadge in Twitch chat when something “sad” appears or when your favorite team loses a round if you follow esports. You can have the meme show up by writing Sadge or :sadge: in chat, but in general just writing Sadge will be understood by everyone in chat.
